Helen Dalton MP – Digital Media & Campaign Work

During my gap year in 2021, I had the opportunity to work as an Electorate Officer for Helen Dalton MP, Member for Murray, a role I continued through short-term relief work during university breaks and contract remote projects in 2022 and 2023. Alongside my responsibilities as an Electorate Officer, my passion and flair for digital media were recognised by the Chief of Staff, which led to opportunities to expand my role.

I was heavily involved in digital media content creation, with a particular focus on graphic design and video production aimed at informing and engaging constituents on key issues. This included designing creative and compelling visuals, ranging from informative graphics to light-hearted memes and direct pleas for government action. Some of the more controversial memes humorously critiqued other politicians, using humor to highlight public frustration and anger over government decisions, ensuring that key messages resonated effectively with the audience.

In addition to my digital media work, I played a significant role in campaign support. As a contracted freelancer, I contributed to the design of newsletters, posters, fridge magnets, and other materials as part of the re-election campaign, which helped secure Helen Daltonโ€™s second term as the Independent Member for Murray in the NSW Parliament.

In this gallery, you will find a collection of the digital media content and campaign materials I created during my time working with Helen Dalton MP.

Letterhead I designed which was then used for all correspondence

During the COVID pandemic, I played a crucial role in keeping constituents informed. I was responsible for releasing the latest updates, clarifying rules, announcing changes, and reassuring the community during a time of great uncertainty. I designed numerous infographics to simplify the complex regulations and quickly communicated these changes through social media, while also showcasing Helen’s support for the community.

An example of an infographic I created during the pandemic to help constituents navigate the complex and often confusing rules. This design explaining the border crossing rules was posted by Helen and was widely shared by local councils, businesses, and individuals across the electorate, becoming a valuable resource for those struggling to understand evolving regulations.

I also created designs to promote and endorse local charities and community organisations. These designs reflected Helen’s support and involvement, and assisted in raising awareness and funds, as well as initiating Government and community action.
